Dad's first post - EATING, of course!

With my genes, and his husky build, we had every reason to believe that William would love starting solid foods. The results, as they say, speak for themselves...

Oh, man! Can't wait - this is going to be awesome...

Huh! Huh! This is so much fun!

Hmmmm...not exactly what I thought it would be like at all...

Disgust! Get that spoon away from me!

Flavor and texture still lingering...

Mommy, I think I may have vomited in my mouth a little.

I thought you said this was going to be fun?!

Needless to say, our first solid food experience with William went poorly for all parties involved. We tried again and again for the next few weeks, recruited unsuspecting bystanders to do our dirty work (thanks, Mimi and Kristina!), and finally gave up. Went to the pediatrician yesterday, and he urged us not to quit trying or else Baby might get an "oral aversion" if we wait too long to introduce solid foods. What?! I'd say it's a bit late for that doc...

The pediatrician did make a good point though, he said that we should try something different. Possible start with sweet, since that's the only flavor that we're born with. We're not too worried about it - William doesn't look like he's skipped many meals, and I still have faith that my genes will kick in soon, and he'll be eating us out of house and home soon enough.
