Bucket list: marathon

January 2012
Contrary to popular opinion, William is not the only member of the Ngo household. The rest of us just have to perform a feat to get a blog mention...our cuteness alone doesn't merit an entry.

In a blatant attempt to make the blog and cross off an entry on his bucket list, Nang and three buddies decided to tackle the 2012 Chevron Houston Marathon in January. It wouldn't be an event if there was not division into teams and a wager placed on the opposing sides. With the prize named (dinner for the winning team at the expense of the losers) and perpetual bragging rights hanging in the balance, Nang and his partner dug deep to bring in a win. Dennis' superhuman running ability (he even bought a book on running to prepare for the event) coupled with Nang's superior training regime (his pre-race runs topped out at a whopping 10 miles) created an unbeatable running powerhouse.

What a difference 78 weeks makes!

Ultrasound of William @ 13 weeks (It all was a bit worrying. I knew he would have a big head given Nang's obviously dominant genes (insert rolled eyes here), but an accompanying giant forehead? Poor guy....or at this point, girl. And the chin situation was a little worrisome - was there one?)

Profile photo @ 1 week before his 1-year birthday. Not too shabby!

Ice cream hatred

September 2011
William is crazy about ice cream now. Last week he saw an empty Blue Bell pint in the recycling bin, and drank the residual rinse water out of it, and smacked his lips. Gross but true. A couple of months ago, Jas bribed him into being friends with the help of a Whataburger vanilla milkshake.

In September, the proposition of ice cream was disgusting. Maybe the same change of heart will happen with vegetables!

Papa's birthday

November 2011
Papa had a big birthday in November, and William met the occasion with an equally big phrase. During birthday dinner, he busted out with a 20-month old's version of "Happy Birthday, Papa!" The surprises didn't stop there. After dinner, William discovered that he LOVES cake, so Papa shared most of his piece with the little sugarholic. In exchange, he gave Papa the first card he's ever written...the penmanship needs a little work.

I'm not lion - it's Halloween!

October 2011
This Halloween was a big one. William's friend, Haley, had a big birthday party - overflowing bags of Doritos and candy, a jump-jump house, a playground with some great swings, AND a creek complete with ducks and little fish. His costume was a little warm in the good weather, so he was a bit droopy.

Carnivore, herbivore, Doritovore

This killer bee is William's biggest fear

Halloween night, we met up with the Hoangs and and invaded a nicer neighborhood to trick-or-treat...like classy folks. It wasn't that they had better candy, Thach was researching the neighborhood.

Figuring out that knocking on the door equals SUGAR!

We've heard your cries

You want more William...before he grows up...and goes to medical or veterinarian or clown school. Mom missed 2011, but back by popular demand, and better late than NEVER - Minnow (one of William's new nicknames for himself, and the happy accident of combining his Vietnamese name (Minh) with his last name (Ngo))! Uncle Robbie gifted William with a stethoscope for Christmas, and today he put in a few minutes (hours in baby time) of practice.
Ear piece placement is trickier than it looks

Got it - let's get going on the patient exam

The first patient: The Hungry Caterpillar

The second patient: Big Turtle (not be confused with Little Turtle)

I'll try to be better about keeping up the posts, and William will keep up the cuteness. Welcome back!
